New scouts, webelos candidates and parents Troop 70 welcomes you! With so many great options to join Scouting, we want to make sure you have all the info you need to make the best decision. Here is why you should strongly consider Toop 70:
Who we are:
Boy Scout Troop 70 is a diverse group of boys from across both Eanes and Lake Travis ISD’s united by a common bond embodied in the Scout Oath.
With 90 middle & high school aged boys we are not the smallest nor the biggest. This is beneficial because with this size troop we allow ample opportunity for Scouts to learn and lead both within the patrol and across the troop.
What makes Troop 70 unique:
Troop 70 holds firmly to being boy led, so that Scouts are quickly taught responsibility for themselves and to each other. Patrols are mixed age, allowing for more experienced Scouts to reinforce what they have learned and pass those skills on to new Scouts. Drawing from two different school districts creates a diverse mix of Scouts and parent volunteers that provide a welcoming environment for both new Scouts and their parents to quickly belong. Our boys LOVE to camp - so every month includes a camp out of some kind. Due to our size we also benefit from access to week long high-adventure camps, out of state camps plus a local (TX) camp in the summer months.
When and where does Troop 70 meet:
Troop 70 meets at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church on the corner of Bee Caves Road and Barton Creek Blvd. (7127 Bee Caves Rd.). Meetings are Mondays at 7pm, except for the Monday following a campout or holiday.
