About Us

Troop 70 is a Boy Scout Troop in the Westlake area of Austin in Central Texas.  We are a close-knit troop of boys aged 12 to 18 who do fun and exciting outdoor activities and weekly meetings.  We are boy-led and boy-focused.  Our aim is to foster citizenship, build character, and develop fitness through fun and exciting monthly camp-outs, weekly meetings and community service projects.  We are chartered by the Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church and in return, we support the church through service projects and other activities.

We are a mid-sized troop of between 30 to 50 scouts and we like it that way.  We are not the largest troop in the area, but we have great parents so we do all kinds of adventures.  We like to camp, fish, climb, canoe, raft, tube, kayak, bike, shoot rifles and arrows, and much more.  We camp every month throughout central Texas typically within two hours drive of Austin.  Occasionally we'll drive a little farther to explore the Texas Gulf Coast, Big Bend or one of the many other amazing places throughout Texas.  We typically go to Colorado for Summer Camp and our older scouts head to one of the big three high adventure bases each summer--hiking at Philmont, canoeing at Northern Tier, or sailing at Sea Base.

Troop 70 was founded in 1989 and has had seven Scoutmasters during that time.  Our goal is for every scout to have the opportunity to become an Eagle Scout and our results are impressive with more than 50 Eagles scouts to date.  Visit the Eagle Scouts page to see our growing list of Eagles!

Troop 70 is in the Bee Cave District of the Capitol Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
