March 2017 Campout
Padre Island National Sea Shore
Scouts and Parents,
It’s time to sign up for the Troop 70 monthly campout. We are heading to the Padre Island National Sea Shore to enjoying camping on the beach, fishing, swimming and lots more fun on this beautiful section of the Texas Coast! If you would, please sign up as soon as possible so we can get a good headcount for purchase of food and supplies. Registration closes 3/19 at midnight!
Who : All Boy Scout Troop 70 Members
What: Beach Camping, fishing, swimming, advancements (fire building instruction) and more! This will be a backpacking style campout. New scouts will receive instruction on what to pack at the meeting on 3/20.
When: Leave the church Friday, 3/24 @ 5:30pm, Return to the church Sunday, 3/26 @ 3:00pm.
Where: Padre Island National Sea Shore. Our campsite will be directly on the beach — Malaquite Beach — where we can enjoy fishing, beach games such as sand football, playing in the ocean and potentially kayaking. As with prior year’s we’ll also have a beach bonfire and an outstanding campfire program so bring your best skits.
Cost: $15_00 at time of registration on troop website (this covers meal expense at the campsite). Registration cutoff is 3/19 @ midnight.
About the Park: Padre Island National Seashore, a unit of the National Park Service, is comprised of some 13400 acres. Today this remarkable barrier island, with its untarnished beaches. dunes, grasslands, marshes, and mudflats offer a rare opportunity for educating park visitors about the complex and critical processes and interactions that sustain the living world.
